Registered Nurse - RN The Staff Nurse (R.N.) is a registered professional nurse who prescribes, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. This position may also have supervisory responsibilities for LPN and Psychiatric Technicians in the absence of the Nurse Manager.

Job Requirements

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years experience as a registered nurse in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred. Completion of associates or bachelor s degree from accredited nursing school and current graduate nurse license required.

Licensure: Licensure by the State Board of Nursing.

  1. Knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures is essential.
  2. Knowledge of all code procedures.
  3. Knowledge of Mental Health Laws and Child Abuse/Neglect/Maltreatment laws, and the DHS provider agreement as applicable.
  4. Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  5. Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.
  6. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers.
  8. Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  9. Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information.
  10. Ability to work as a team player.
  11. Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication.
